Totally stealing this idea from [livejournal.com profile] cho_malfoy, because it is a brilliant one and I love music recs ♥ (and holy crap, am I out of practice with review writing. Book reports used to be so easy too lol)

- Breathe Into Me by Red - Christian rock without being preachy (or I was just completely oblivious over the years). Either way, was reminded of this song when Crush brought his iPod into work the other day, and I've found the whole album (End of Silence) to be quite theraputic and energizing.

- Two Rabbits by Califia - Not the best video, but I can't be too picky with local bands :p They've changed it up too, trying to blend the older songs like this with their newer stuff, and based on the show, it's a really good mix. Like he says, it's a song about bad choices, and it even has a lovely stoner zen-ness with the chorus ♥

- Fuck Everything by Jon Lajoie - [livejournal.com profile] cecilylee introduced me to this video, and I can't thank her enough for that. It's a silly angry song that I blast on my way to work to help me keep things in perspective.

- Possession by Evans Blue - A cover of Sarah McLachlan's song. It's not quite a rock ballad, too heavy in some places, with the lyrics taking on somewhat of a more ominious undertone that I love. Not sure about the rest of their stuff yet though. (And I saw that Smile Empty Soul covered Possession as well, but not even remotely as good as this one. In case you're wondering.)

(not my video)

This was Slow Gherkin's final song, pre-encore ♥ And omg, more flailing about it later, when I have energy and all that, but such a perfect show with awesome bands (MU330 and Vancougar also played).

Audio's distorted somewhat, but it captures the concert energy perfectly ♥♥

more Mumford youtube epicness thisaway )

Their second album needs to be out now please :D

(and ugh, it feels like I fucked up my hand more than normal, since it still aches and hurts, especially when I'm on the computer or handwriting something :/ fingers crossed it goes away quickly, with no lasting issues. but I may end up hiding from the internet/computer usage in an attempt to get it to heal faster. Stupid lack of health care)

This feels so dorky to write, but there are no words that can accurately describe the concert tonight (there are potential typos though, and if so, blame them on the brandy :p). And I'm watching the Sharks/Kings game right now, and if it ends up the way I want it to, this will be the most epic of nights ♥

(eta: omg ilu Sharks. So much right now)

Old Crow Medicine Show, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes, Mumford & Sons )

And now I'm off to bed, to sleep in my concert t-shirt and cling tight to what just happened, and to dream of kettle corn and flaming snails and steam engines.

MUMFORD & SONS. IN TWENTY-FOUR HOURS I WILL BE BACK HERE FLAILING OVER THEM ♥___♥ I hope they realize the amount of pressure they're under ♥ I remember how I was first introduced to them, in the backseat of a car with a Dean/Castiel fanmix playing; "Thistle and Weeds" staying strong in my head for hours afterwards.

They're my go-to music, for my glee, for my writing, for my depression (and if I want to escape it or wallow in it, there's a song). They're what I hum to myself when I'm at work, my default setting on repeat. Their lyrics give me hope, comfort, that darkness happens and then there is light, eventually. But there will always be light waiting there for you.

(I've been so good and haven't watched any videos of them live, save for the Grammy's. Because everyone has told me they are epic and even more amazing on stage vs. audio, and I want to save that first-time experience for the concert. MY SPOILER-PHOBIA EXTENDS TO EVERYTHING I SWEAR :p )

I was going to write more, but it's late and I have to get up in ~4 hours and squee and flail at [livejournal.com profile] playthefool when I see her at the asscrack of dawn. But then hopefully will be massive amounts of writing and/or napping, and then the concert <333 I have Friday off as well, and will be tackling comments and fic-writing and email and all of that then.

(also, how do I not have some sort of SPN/Mumford & Sons icon type thing? THEY ARE PERFECT FOR EACH OTHER)
